I believe it is a resin type casting.  It is very lovely painted with purples, greens & a gold "antiquing". The top shelf is not flat is in indented in its form.

I purchased this for my kitchen, but I have very limited wall space therefore I need to sell it.  If you have the right decor and the wall space, you will be so happy you purchased this beautiful shelf.
